Hi Birdboy - I love your pics, and reading about your life on the ice. My brother was part of Operation Deepfreeze in the early 60's, on the USS Glacier, an icebreaker. He came home with hundreds of pictures of Penguins joining in on their beer parties on the ice. The sailors would be standing around, and the penguins would gather all around them, and join the party. McMurdo buildings, at that time, looked pretty much like your hut, it has 'grown' a lot in the almost 50 years since he was there.

Stay warm! and thanks for this blog! and what degree rating is your sleeping bag?? ... thanks, Mynetta

Hey Birdboy, Don't try to do any watercolors there :>). I admire your adventuresome nature and your willingly to share your time with others. As for me, I thought that it was a bad day here in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with snow and sleet flying. As the great genius of the 20th century said, "It's a matter of relativity". I am a VERY senior citizen who still enjoys adventures, but I don't think that I was ever adventurous enough to literally go to the ends of the earth. Thanks for sharing the photos. Sorry about your tent.

Cheers, Joan of Art and Nature
